Do I have to be home to get an estimate or have tree work done?
If you are having trees trimmed and you want specific branches removed, its a good idea to be around for the estimate.
If you can't be there, mark removals with paint or vinyl tape for easy identification.
When is the right time to call in a professional?
Anytime that you aren't comfortable. Tree work is EXTREMELY dangerous, the average chainsaw related ER visit costs over
$5000 and requires 100+ stitches. We use very specialized gear to get home safely every day. Save yourself the headache.
Is stump grinding included in the price of my tree removal?
Not unless it is specifically stated in the contract and was agreed upon. This is an industry wide practice...sorry
Is any kind of deposit or down payment required for tree work?
Not generally speaking. We do require deposits for large dynamic cabling systems but that is only to cover the cost of materials.
For 99% of our jobs we get paid after the job is completed. True professionals will never ask for a deposit. Ever.
What should I do to prepare an area for tree work?
Unlock gates, move patio furniture and grills, and make sure the cars are completley out of the way. If you have a dog, make sure
to clean up the mess and move him if you won't be home. Mow the grass if you have the chance...you will thank me later.
What are the factors that most affect the final price?
Location is EVERYTHING in tree work. It will seriously affect the price. Can machines get to it? What obstacles are nearby?
Houses, powerlines, sheds, pools, swing sets, driveways, and underground utilities are some factors. Also, with todays tight economy
more people are opting to do their own cleanup. Depending on the job, this can be a substantial amount.
What are the typical costs associated with tree removal?
Every tree is different, but here are some "typical" examples:
Small diameter trees (12" or less -
Mid size trees (12-
Large trees (24-
40"+ Maples and Oaks require HUGE gear. Crane removals start at $4000
The middle of the pack is a good starting point.. You WILL get the best service when the owner is leading the crew. The larger
companies have a huge turnover rate for ground guys which means there's a good chance that they are green. Also, check their
website. Its a good reference point to get started. Ask your friends and family, they have had tree work done. Lastly, trust your gut!
Can I keep my own firewood and how does that affect the total price?
Its your tree, so you can have as much as you want. You can have the wood cut into specific sized pieces or we can remove it big..
We don't charge much for nice hardwood, but you will see the savings add up if the tree is not a hardwood or is difficult to access.
What are the laws regarding trees on a property line?
Whoever owns the majority of the tree is the "owner" and the tree's fate is in their hands, but there are some grey areas. Limbs that
hang over a property line are allowed to be removed. Many neighbors get together and split the cost of a shared tree. If a hazardous
tree is made note of, you can be held responsible for any damages that occur.until it is dealt with properly.
What are my options to make a hazardous tree safer?
Cabling is an option if you want to keep the tree. Another option is trimming for windsail reduction and weight removal. Most tree
accidents occur while its windy, so removing the wind's effect and shaving weight off greatly reduces the possibility of an event.
